Tips locals use

  1. 1Always photograph your parking ticket and bay number — solves 90% of return-to-car problems.
  2. 2If flying early, check parkade access hours — P5 is 24/7 but some services aren't.
  3. 3Don't park in P1 / P2 for trips over 48 hours — short-stay pricing scales hard.
  4. 4Off-site meet-and-greet adds 15–25 min to your departure timeline. Factor it in.

06 · FAQ

Common questions

Can I pre-book parking at Cape Town Airport?+

ACSA's on-airport parkades (P1–P5) currently do not support pre-booking — take a ticket on entry, pay on exit. Off-site operators (meet-and-greet, park-and-fly hotels) can be pre-booked through their own sites or agents like Looking4Parking and ParkVia.

What happens if I lose my parking ticket?+

ACSA charges R150 plus the applicable tariff for the assumed maximum stay. Bring photo ID and proof you parked at CPT (boarding pass, flight confirmation). Always photograph your ticket and bay number on entry.

Is overnight parking safe at CPT?+

All ACSA parkades are fenced, CCTV-monitored, and patrolled. Incidents are rare relative to volume. Don't leave valuables visible. P5 is open and busy 24/7 — generally fine for week-long stays.

How early should I arrive if I'm parking long-term?+

P5: add 15–20 min for the shuttle on top of normal airport arrival. Meet-and-greet: add 25 min to hand the car over. P1–P4: standard airport arrival timing applies.

Are there electric vehicle charging stations?+

A small number of EV bays exist in the covered parkades, but ACSA does not publish locations or count publicly. Call +27 21 936 3600 to confirm availability before relying on one.

What's the cheapest way to park for a 10-day trip?+

P5 works out cheapest of the official options — roughly R150 × 5 days + R65 × 5 days ≈ R1,075. Off-site meet-and-greet typically lands at R900–R1,300 depending on operator. Park-and-fly hotels are not cost-competitive at this length.
